Our Vision

Shout Mouse Press believes that young people -- particularly underrepresented youth -- are essential storytellers of our time. When we support the creation and publication of books by young people for young people, we see powerful, lasting ripple effects. Youth authors gain confidence, deepen community connection, and begin to imagine new futures. And when their books circulate in classrooms, libraries, and living rooms, their stories spark conversations that open hearts and minds and shift culture.

Why This Work Matters

The young people we serve -- immigrant, incarcerated, queer, Black, Muslim, Latinx, and otherwise marginalized youth -- are navigating immense challenges. Their voices are being questioned, and their rights are often under threat. Shout Mouse exists to respond to moments like this -- and to amplify youth voices. We provide the space, mentorship, and publishing pathways that allow young authors to develop their voices and share them widely.

• storytelling workshops with immigrant youth at Latin American Youth Center
• a graphic narrative project with the National Museum of Women in the Arts

Since our founding, Shout Mouse has published 65 youth-led books by 600+ young authors, and reached nearly 500,000 young readers. The stories in the pages of our books strengthen belonging, spark dialogue, and reshape narratives -- and your gift makes this possible.
